| Our History Wolves Wod Kindred (formerly known as Wolf Run Kindred) was established Labor Day weekend in 1999. At that time the kindred consisted of 4 very active members. Over time the kindred has retained active experienced members, and we have parted ways with some folks who move on to other things. We've had kindred members active in local and national Asatru organizations and interfaith social groups, and we've had some members who are simply dedicated to be the finest example of our Asatru faith that they can be, and keep their religious life within the group. Two things have remained: the faith and the fellowship. Many of us are proud to call Wolves' Wod Kindred our spiritual home. This Decade... In 2007, we were able to host a Southern Indiana version of the Hoosier Heathen Hoedown here at our Hof. Early that same summer, many of our kinsfolk had a hand in organizing and running Trothmoot 2007 in Lincoln State Park, Indiana--seeing to it that excellent guest speakers were on the agenda and that the whole Kentuckiana experience went smoothly for folk visiting the area. Throughout our first decade we have had members serve as Stewards, Redespersons, and volunteers for the Troth. Wolves' Wod Kindred was represented well at the Asatru Alliance Althing in 2005. Many of our members began their memberships immediately when the Asatru Folk Assembly was re-launched. Wolves' Wod Kindred is proud to have been an actve part of the folk re-awakening across the nation. Within our organization, our talents and interests have begun to emerge through a warrior guild, through the work of resident artisans, in our studies, and in our shamanic practices. Our kindred is very much looking forward to the coming years. We celebrated our 9 years anniversary in September of 08, and returned toward a focus on local community service by remaining good neighbors for other local Asatru. We continued to encourage our members to continue support national efforts and organizations. Most of all, we nurtured our membership and continued to grow together in our spiritual fellowship. More Recent Growth! At the Close of 2009 we have happily celebrated our 10tth year. Kim Welch became Ordained AFA Clergy after completing the Asatru Folk Assembly's Clergy Program. Thanks to the mentorship of Jon Steiner, OAC and Godhi of Hofbrau Kindred! Now Kim is mentoring a student in service back to the Clergy Program. Our Kindred has 7 oathed members, 7 prospective members and a friend of the tribe who attend our blots on a regular basis as of this writing. |
